If the mirror is very wide, it may be difficult for the light to reach the center, which can cause facial shadows. You might also find yourself moving from side to side to get the full benefit of the lighting.

In these cases, a light above the mirror – or a combination of both – often provides a more even and functional light. If you’re looking for ambient lighting or an addition to existing lighting, lights mounted on the sides can be a beautiful and atmospheric choice, regardless of the mirror’s size.
